    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • A giant Christmas ornament acts as a literal 'deus ex machina' by crushing a car windshield
    • The town offers 'Alpaca-grams' where people send videos of talking alpacas
    • The Christmas parade is explicitly stated to last only 30 seconds
    • The marriage coach is revealed to have a secret pipeline of failing couples she sends to this specific town
    • A subplot involves a portrait of an alpaca named Al Dente

    Full story (spoilers)
Becca, a high-strung tax accountant, and Robby, a creative director, are at a breaking point in their 13-year marriage. Their days are filled with missed connections and arguments over a never-ending home renovation, specifically the placement of a microwave. Their marriage coach, Lauren, suggests a 'different' kind of getaway in Gracious, Vermont. Upon arrival, the couple is immediately struck by the town's eccentricities, but their plan to leave early is thwarted when a massive, oversized Christmas ornament falls from a display and smashes their car's windshield. The local mechanic, Cindy, informs them it will take days to fix, forcing them to stay at an inn run by a friendly couple, Vince and Brian. While stuck in Gracious, Becca and Robby are roped into various town traditions. They are tasked with 'rounding up' ingredients and baking 200 pies for 'Pies for PETS,' a local charity event. During these activities, Robby reveals he took a secret baking class to surprise Becca, highlighting the communication gap between them. They participate in a Victorian-style caroling event in full costume and witness a 'parade' that hilariously lasts only thirty seconds. They also record a bizarre 'alpaca-gram' for their parents, during which Robby accidentally tells them 'I love you, banana patch' in French. As they spend time together without the distractions of their city lives, they begin to soften. They decorate a 'sad' abandoned Christmas tree and watch 'A Christmas Carol' on a vintage VHS player. However, when the car is fixed earlier than expected, Becca suffers a crisis of confidence. She fears that their reconciliation is merely a 'vacation bubble' that will burst once they return to their real-world stresses. She insists on leaving, but Robby stops her. In a heartfelt climax, Robby admits he has taken her for granted and promises to make her his priority regardless of their location. Realizing their bond is worth the work, they decide to stay for the town's Christmas buffet, finally 'checking in' to their marriage for good while their dog, Jerry, looks on.
