    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist is a professional gift wrapper who specializes in 'furoshiki' (Japanese fabric wrapping).
    • The 'mistletoe panorama' is treated as a major high-stakes gala centerpiece.
    • The hero is referred to as the 'Joan Jett of furoshiki'.
    • The sister brings a 'hypoallergenic' cat that immediately causes a sneezing fit.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Mia Parker, a co-owner of the 'All Wrapped Up' gift shop, dreaming of a romantic encounter with Mr. Wedgewood, the hero of her favorite novel, 'Christmas in Derbyshire.' Her reality is much busier as she and her business partners, Lily, Tina, and Olivia, prepare for the high-stakes St. Paul Christmas Gala. Mia's life is further complicated when her sister Ashlyn moves in unexpectedly with a cat, Snowball, to which Mia is highly allergic. One night, a handsome man named Beau knocks on the shop window after hours, asking for a book to be wrapped. Mia performs a Japanese 'furoshiki' wrap, and the two share an immediate connection. Mia later discovers that Beau is a member of the wealthy Cavannagh family and is supposedly engaged to Penelope Martin. Despite this, Beau invites Mia to give a wrapping demonstration for his mother Claire's book club. At the estate, Mia realizes the vast class difference between them but continues to see Beau as they volunteer together at a community kitchen. Beau reveals that his engagement to Penelope is a sham designed to protect Penelope's secret relationship with a political rival's son and to satisfy his mother's desire for foundation stability. As they grow closer, Beau takes Mia to his horse sanctuary, showing her his 'real' self. However, the romance hits a wall when Beau's mother Claire unilaterally sets a wedding date for him and Penelope. Feeling like an outsider and refusing to be 'the other woman,' Mia breaks things off. Meanwhile, the gala preparations face disaster when the caterers and decorators cancel. Mia takes a risk by hiring her sister Ashlyn to cater and enlists her friends to decorate. At the gala, Beau finally finds his voice, breaking off the fake engagement and standing up to his mother. Claire, realizing her mistake, apologizes by donating a rare first-edition copy of 'Christmas in Derbyshire' to the gala raffle, which Mia wins. The film concludes with Beau and Mia confessing their love and sharing a kiss under the 'mistletoe panorama' they created together.
