    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The recurring joke that being a bridesmaid 10 times earns you a set of steak knives.
    • The specific detail that military dogs are always one rank higher than their handlers to ensure they are treated with respect.
    • The protagonist's extreme 'professional bridesmaid' status being treated like an Olympic sport.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Becca Foster giving a speech at her friend Allie's wedding, marking her ninth time as a bridesmaid. She expresses a firm belief that love should be 'effortless,' a sentiment immediately challenged by the wedding videographer, Kyle Taylor, who views love as something that requires hard work and 'editing' to look perfect. Becca's life is at a crossroads; her parents, Joyce and Paul, are retiring and expect her to take over their successful insurance agency, a career Becca pursues out of duty rather than desire. When her cousin Lucie gets engaged, Becca is thrust into her tenth bridesmaid role as Maid of Honor. Lucie and her fiancé Craig attempt to set Becca up with the best man, Aiden, a successful lawyer who is 'perfect on paper.' Throughout the wedding preparations, Becca and Kyle are forced into proximity. Kyle discovers Becca's secret talent for jewelry making and encourages her to sell her pieces at a local bridal shop, while Becca learns about Kyle's passion project: a documentary about reuniting retired soldiers with their military dogs. As they attend food tastings and dress fittings, their initial philosophical clash turns into mutual respect. Becca's jewelry starts selling out, and Kyle's documentary nears completion, but both are paralyzed by the fear of failure. The central conflict peaks when Becca, hoping to help Kyle, shows his unfinished rough cut to her uncle Paul, a famous film producer. Kyle is furious, feeling his creative process was violated and that Becca overstepped. Simultaneously, Becca faces the deadline to sign the insurance partnership papers. In the climax, Becca finally stands up to her parents, choosing to pursue jewelry full-time. Kyle realizes that Becca's belief in his work was the catalyst he needed to finish his film. At Lucie's wedding, Becca gives a revised speech, acknowledging that true love is about inspiring someone to be better than they thought they could be. Kyle and Becca reconcile at the reception, admitting their feelings and finally sharing a kiss, agreeing that while love takes work, their connection is effortless.
