Full story (spoilers)
Olivia Marsden is a talented but overworked producer who keeps the career of famous photographer Meryl James running smoothly while neglecting her own photography and personal life. During a demanding commercial shoot, Olivia is urged to take a vacation in Sedona, but a call from her second cousin Mason changes her plans. Mason tells her that her Aunt Ruby has been suffering dizzy spells, prompting Olivia to return to Blue Creek, Texas, with her longtime best friend June. At Sweetwaters, the country dance hall and bar Ruby built with her late husband Pete, Olivia is welcomed by Ruby, the Sugarfoots, and Mason. She also comes face-to-face with Luke, her childhood best friend and first love. Their reunion is full of teasing, competitiveness, and unresolved hurt, especially when Luke challenges Olivia over whether she still knows how to two-step. Ruby insists that her health is fine, but Olivia soon discovers that Sweetwaters is struggling financially and that Ruby has received repeated offers from Bryan Boone, a wealthy tech entrepreneur who wants to turn the property into a luxury hotel. Mason reveals that Sweetwaters is roughly $47,000 in debt because of unpaid taxes and accumulating repairs left behind after Pete's death. Olivia is determined to find a way to save the place without forcing Ruby to sell. Bryan offers to write a check, but Olivia believes Ruby will be happier if the community helps preserve the dance hall. Meanwhile, Olivia spends more time with Luke at his equine therapy operation, and their old chemistry resurfaces. June also develops a sweet, awkward connection with Mason while helping push Olivia and Luke toward one another. The group decides to stage a worldwide livestreamed country-dance marathon at Sweetwaters, using Olivia's production skills, Bryan's technical expertise, June's promotional energy, and the Sugarfoots' music to raise money. Olivia and Luke finally admit that they still think about the life they might have shared, and Luke asks her for another chance. Before they can resolve all their fears, Ruby falls and is hospitalized with a head injury. Olivia realizes she cannot keep living only for Meryl's career, postpones the Milan shoot, and tells Meryl that family must come first. Meryl responds by canceling the shoot and coming to Blue Creek to help. Ruby recovers enough to attend the dance marathon, where Olivia publicly announces that Sweetwaters is not for sale. The event draws local dancers and viewers from around the world, and the fundraising numbers appear strong enough to keep the hall operating. Bryan respects Ruby's decision and says he will find another way to be part of Blue Creek. June adopts Mason's rescued puppy Gable, and her relationship with Mason becomes more serious. In the final moments, Olivia and Luke acknowledge that their future will require effort but agree to figure out their dreams together, ending with a dance at Sweetwaters.
