When former TV star Clint Taylor brings his Wild West show into town, murder becomes the featured attraction for bookstore owner Samantha Kinsey. Samantha is chairperson this year of Walden's annual Wild West Days and it's quite a coup bringing the ruggedly handsome Taylor and his band of cowboys into town for the event. The actor hasn't been in the limelight for years, but with a big comeback movie in the works he has gathered together much of the cast of his old TV show for his arena extravaganza. After Taylor stages an accident for publicity, Samantha learns this is not one big happy family. When somebody shoots Taylor's stand-in during a performance, Samantha calls upon her friends, Cassie and Philby, to help her find out which cowpoke pulled the trigger and why.

Opening
Samantha has a nightmare, wakes to the busy preparations for Wild West Days, and meets the famous Clint Lawson as his arrival promises to boost the town's western festival and fundraising.
Inciting incident
During the first show, Clint's saddle cinch is cut and he is thrown from his horse, making it clear that someone has sabotaged the performance and may have tried to kill him.
Rising action
Dogie Jones stands in for Clint and is shot dead onstage, and the police arrest Clint after finding a threatening note in Dogie's pocket.
Midpoint
Samantha and Philby learn the note is actually copied dialogue from an old script, shifting suspicion away from an obvious death threat and toward a more complicated setup.
Conflict escalates
The investigation deepens as Samantha uncovers Clint's gambling problems, Dogie's hidden role in Clint's finances, forged memorabilia tied to Strother, and multiple suspects with grudges against Clint.
Climax
At Dogie's memorial service, Samantha uses his cell phone and the last-call clue to trap the real killer, exposing Zeke Foster as the man who shot Dogie and planned to frame Clint.
Resolution
Chief Connors arrests Zeke, Clint is cleared of murder, and the town begins to recover while Annie leaves to start fresh and Clint's personal life remains as messy as ever.
A few things that make this one stand out once you stack it up against every other Hallmark movie.
At 2 hours it's a genuine epic by Hallmark standards — only about 58 of their movies run two hours or longer.
