Opening
A murder at the Sunset Country Club is discovered, and Johnny Nelson, the groundskeeper, becomes the main suspect while Samantha is pulled into the case through her connection to the police and the Mystery Woman bookstore.
Inciting incident
Suzi Charleston arrives unexpectedly with her baby, Josh, asks Samantha for a safe place to stay, and then leaves the child in Samantha’s care when it becomes clear she is in danger.
Rising action
Samantha juggles caring for the baby with investigating Suzi, Johnny, and the Ferrone murder, while Philby returns and helps her trace Suzi’s background and old contacts.
Midpoint
Samantha learns that Ferrone was tied to Chandler Enterprises and that Agent Javier Ortiz is secretly investigating the company for financial crimes, shifting the case from a simple murder to a corporate cover-up.
