    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • Tater tinsel toffee (chocolate-covered potato chips) being treated as a high-end culinary innovation.
    • Cranberry chocolate coated in 'evergreen essence' that causes hallucinations of a handsome lumberjack.
    • The protagonist uses a 'Grinch vs. Whoville' legal analogy to explain eminent domain.
    • A 'downward penguin' yoga/skating move.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens at a Christmas fundraiser for the Children's Hospital of Vienna, where Charlotte Dobler, an American who left her law career in Cincinnati to run her Oma's chocolate shop, meets Henry Broadbent. Henry, a British businessman, has just taken over Eurostar Developments from his retiring father, Gordon. The two share a dance and an immediate spark, but their professional lives are on a collision course. Charlotte's shop, Dobler Chocolate, is the final holdout in a massive redevelopment project managed by Danube Development, a company Henry's firm just acquired. Charlotte is determined to prove her shop is a historical landmark to block the demolition, but she lacks the necessary pre-1924 documentation. Meanwhile, Henry's CEO, Morgana, pushes for eminent domain to forcibly remove Charlotte. As Henry and Charlotte begin dating, Henry realizes that the 'difficult' business owner his company is fighting is the woman he is falling for. Instead of being honest, he attempts to work behind the scenes to redesign the project to save her shop, while Charlotte struggles with the 'Chocolatier of the Year' competition and her legal appeal. Their romance blossoms through quintessentially Viennese activities like visiting punch terraces and ice skating, where Henry humorously fails to stay upright. However, the secret identity trope reaches its climax when Charlotte discovers Henry's true identity via a news article. Feeling betrayed and viewing him as a 'Grinch' trying to steal her 'Whoville,' she breaks off the relationship. In the final act, Charlotte visits Paulina, an old friend of her grandmother, who provides a 1921 photograph of the shop's opening—the definitive proof needed for historical designation. Simultaneously, Henry stands up to his father, Gordon, explaining that he wants to lead the company with more heart. He presents a new architectural plan to the board that incorporates the chocolate shop as a featured landmark within the new development. At the Strauss Christmas Ball, Henry presents these plans to Charlotte as a peace offering. Charlotte, realizing Henry truly fought for her, forgives him. They agree to move forward together, blending the old traditions of the shop with the new development, and seal their reconciliation with a dance and a kiss as the new year begins.
