Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

  • The traditional Christmas market is transformed into an aggressively modern event featuring bubble tea, peppermint tapioca amuse-bouches, neon-style entertainment, turntables, and a DJ.
  • The market's tapioca drinks create enough stains that the event crew jokes about using a flamethrower to remove them.
  • The romantic lead brands himself 'Mr. Christmas' and ultimately participates in a community Santa and Mrs. Claus parade.

Full story (spoilers)
Taylor moves from Sacramento to Pineway with his children, Jenna and Arlo, hoping the new town will give them a fresh start. Jenna struggles with leaving her friends and feels disconnected from the family's old Christmas traditions, while Arlo embraces the move enthusiastically. Sophie Shaw, a widowed Pineway Town Hall accountant and mother to Lily, learns that her mentor Paul Gitlin is leaving for a state position in Seattle. She considers applying for his community engagement role, even though she lacks direct experience. Taylor is hired as Pineway's holiday specialist and first meets Sophie during a comic dispute over a reserved parking space while he unloads a truck full of Christmas decorations. Paul assigns Sophie to supervise Taylor's team, placing the practical, rules-oriented accountant beside the improvisational man known as Mr. Christmas. They clash over fire codes, budgets, and Taylor's desire to make the event exciting, but Sophie gradually becomes involved in his plans and helps him understand that the town needs both traditional Christmas celebrations and something appealing to younger residents. Taylor's attempt to make the first Christmas market more modern backfires. Bubble tea, peppermint tapioca, a DJ, neon-style entertainment, and the absence of traditional carolers confuse families and generate complaints. Sophie proposes combining a traditional Town Hall market with a larger carnival at the fairgrounds, and the town gives her the lead. As they work late decorating, Sophie and Taylor bond over being single parents and over their fears of watching their children grow away from them. Their connection deepens during a holiday tour of Pineway, and Sophie encourages Taylor to stop trying to fix every aspect of Jenna's life while Taylor inspires Sophie to see the creative and community-minded qualities she brings to her work. Sophie prepares a heartfelt presentation for the Board, using photographs of her life with Lily to explain why Pineway's services matter to local families. Her pitch gives her a real chance at becoming Regional Manager, and Taylor openly admires the woman he sees behind her spreadsheets. Wanting to reconnect with Jenna, Taylor secretly books Pineway's local band Clover for the carnival and publicly dedicates a song to her. Jenna is embarrassed by the spotlight and tells him she does not need him to fix her life, forcing Taylor to confront how his efforts to preserve the past are pushing her away. The band booking also exposes Taylor's biggest professional mistake: he uses the wrong budget, spending money from the annual events fund rather than the seasonal programming budget. The Board cancels the parade to cover the overage, and Sophie fears that her chance at promotion is gone. She tells Taylor that Christmas magic may not be for her after all, while he apologizes for getting in her way. Taylor later brings Sophie homemade treats and joins her in searching for a way to save the parade without putting the town further in debt. Sophie and Taylor turn to Pineway's residents, asking businesses, schools, musicians, and volunteers to donate their time and services. Taylor agrees to play Santa, and Sophie helps organize a community-funded Santa and Mrs. Claus parade at the fairgrounds. The event succeeds spectacularly, Jenna reconnects with her father, and the town commits to preserving the celebration as a new tradition. Sophie is promoted to Regional Manager, Taylor and Sophie reconcile, and their final exchange makes clear that their professional partnership has become a romantic one.
