Love on Harbor Island

Lily Summers is a talented assistant at a top Seattle design firm, but she is denied a promotion because her boss, Beatrice Hawthorne, feels her work lacks a personal 'thumbprint.' When her Aunt Maggie suffers a fall, Lily returns to Harbor Island to help. She is flown to the island by Marcus, a pilot who runs 'Pilots for Pups,' a rescue organization. Their relationship starts with friction when Marcus jokes about it being his first flight, making a nervous Lily nauseous. Upon arrival, Lily learns that Maggie intends to sell the Inn because she can no longer afford the maintenance. Lily decides to stay and use her design skills to stage the Inn for an open house to ensure it finds a good buyer. Throughout her stay, Lily and Marcus form a bond through a series of 'favor trades': Lily builds a professional website for Marcus's dog rescue, and Marcus helps Lily with structural repairs at the Inn. A minor conflict arises over wood types when Lily insists on red cedar for a fence while Marcus uses pine. Meanwhile, Lily's city boyfriend, Bradford, a workaholic real estate developer, visits the island but remains glued to his phone, eventually leading to their mutual breakup. During the town's Lantern Festival, Lily wins 'Best Lantern' and gives a speech about the island being a 'feeling' rather than just a place. The conflict peaks when Bradford and his partner Dan reveal their plan to buy the Inn, demolish it, and build a 15-story condo resort. Marcus, overhearing this, mistakenly believes Lily is complicit in the plan to destroy the town's character. However, Lily realizes her true passion is on the island. She rejects a second interview for her dream job in Seattle and attempts to get a bank loan to save the Inn herself. In the resolution, Marcus reveals he has been looking for a 'forever home' and uses his savings to make a counter-offer on the Inn in Lily's name. The film ends with Lily and Marcus agreeing to run the Inn together as partners in both business and life.
