    • The 'Dancing Abuela' subplot where the grandmother has 60,000+ followers and does TikTok-style dances.
    • The recurring HR subplot involving a professor demanding a '40% reduction' in stuffed rabbits in an office.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with a montage of the Mendez Boyz's peak fame, transitioning to the present where Nick Mendez is struggling as a solo artist in Los Angeles. His manager, AC, books him a gig at 'The Metro' in Salt Lake City to revitalize his career. Meanwhile, Summer Rivera works as a private HR Director at a college, where she spends her time mediating bizarre faculty disputes, such as a professor's complaint about a colleague's excessive stuffed rabbit decorations. It is revealed that Summer and Nick have been 'pen pals' for 15 years, ever since Nick called her in response to her first fan letter. They have shared every major life event via email and video chat but have never met in person. When Nick arrives in Utah, they finally meet, and the chemistry is immediate. However, Summer is intensely private and hides the relationship from her traditional father, Antonio, a lawyer who distrusts musicians. Nick’s manager, AC, sees the 'fan-meets-star' story as a perfect PR opportunity to get Nick back on 'Oh My TV,' but Summer refuses to be part of a media circus. As they spend time together, Nick helps Summer’s brother with guitar and wins over her grandmother, 'Dancing Abuela,' a social media influencer. Nick also learns from Antonio that Summer stopped singing as a child after being bullied during a school assembly. The conflict peaks when a tabloid video of Nick's previous breakup and a story about his 'steamy' relationship with 'super-fan' Summer leaks to the press. Feeling betrayed and exposed, Summer breaks up with Nick, telling him to return to LA. However, after a heart-to-heart with her grandmother and witnessing the resignation of her eccentric colleague Milton—who realizes he was overcompensating for his own past bullying—Summer realizes she cannot let fear control her life. She attends Nick's concert, where he performs the 'original' soulful version of his hit song 'Basics' instead of the commercialized pop version. Summer joins him on stage, overcoming her stage fright to sing the duet. The film ends with Nick deciding to move to Utah to be with Summer, finally choosing a private life over the hollow pursuit of fame.
