    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The Westwood family runs Christmas like a highly scheduled competition, including ornament-hanging quadrants, a gingerbread-house contest, and an exhibition-style snowman event.
    • The house is so particular about holiday customs that even gift wrapping paper and pajamas are treated as family protocol.
    • A Christmas visit turns into a blend of Hanukkah customs, bank-family pressure, and elaborate holiday pageantry.

    Full story (spoilers)
Leah Goldberg and Graham Westwood are already a couple when the story begins, but their relationship is still in its early serious stage. Leah is curious and enthusiastic about Christmas, even though she comes from a Hanukkah-centered family, and Graham invites her to spend the holiday with his parents in Connecticut. Before they leave, Leah meets Graham’s sister Maddie and learns more about his family’s habits, while Graham worries about whether his parents will accept her. At the Westwood house, Leah quickly realizes that the family’s Christmas traditions are highly organized and deeply specific. Barbara Westwood runs the household with a strict holiday schedule, Mitchell Westwood fills the house with jokes and bank-related expectations, and Maddie reveals family tensions of her own, including a hidden plan to start an artisanal pickle business instead of going to business school. Leah tries hard to fit in, bringing a terrarium as a hostess gift and helping decorate the tree according to the family’s precise ornament system, but she still feels like an outsider. The holiday activities escalate through a gingerbread-house contest, a snowman-building competition, and a family dinner full of awkward jokes, unspoken rules, and old expectations. Graham’s ex-girlfriend Julia Hempsted appears, which heightens Leah’s sense that she does not belong, and the Westwoods’ perfectionism makes every small misstep feel larger. Leah also becomes increasingly aware that Graham is still navigating his parents’ expectations about returning to work at his father’s bank, while she herself struggles with the feeling that she cannot measure up to their idealized version of family life. After a series of misunderstandings, Leah and Graham have a painful argument about what his family expects and whether she fits into that world. Graham admits that he feels like an outsider almost anywhere except with Leah, and Leah confesses that she has been trying so hard to get Christmas right that she has lost sight of herself. Barbara then surprises Leah by apologizing for being controlling and admits that her fear of change and losing Graham has made her difficult. Leah reassures her that Graham will always be her son, and the two women begin to understand each other. On Christmas Eve, Graham finally speaks honestly to his parents, tells them he will not be returning to work at the bank, and explains that Leah is the person he wants to build his life with. Leah’s parents arrive in the midst of the family search for Graham, and the chaos leads to the reveal that Graham has been planning a proposal all along. He uses his grandmother’s ring and asks Leah to marry him, telling her that he wants to spend the rest of his life with her. She says yes, the families embrace, and the story ends with Christmas morning joy, blended traditions, and a sense that both Leah and Graham have found a home that makes room for who they truly are.
