    Full story (spoilers)
Abbey Fuller is a single mother and former interior designer working as a programming director at a retirement home. Her friend Caroline Sinclair, a board member, offers her a chance to return to her true passion by decorating the massive Sinclair estate for an upcoming Christmas Eve gala. Abbey initially hesitates to protect her work-life balance with her son, Max, but her father Philip encourages her to take the risk. Abbey has a literal 'bump-in' meet-cute with Nick Sinclair, Caroline's son, at a town tree lighting where Nick reveals himself to be a cynical businessman who claims he doesn't believe in magic. When Abbey arrives for her interview, she finds Nick and his Senior Vice President, Kate Newhall, are strictly focused on business and the launch of Sinclair South. Despite a rocky start where Abbey nearly walks out due to Nick's dismissive attitude, he is impressed by her 'spunk' and hires her. As Abbey begins the renovation, she struggles to get Nick's attention until they go on a furniture shopping trip. There, she teaches him about the 'romantic spirit' of objects and they bond over his childhood memories of Nantucket. The relationship deepens when Nick helps Abbey hang garlands so she can make it to her son's pageant rehearsal. However, a corporate merger begins to fail, and Kate pressures Nick to stop being 'distracted' by Abbey. Nick coldly tells Abbey he cannot afford any more distractions, leading her to believe their connection was purely professional. Meanwhile, Abbey goes on a date with Mike, a kind doctor, but realizes there is no spark. On the night of the gala, Kate realizes she wants more authority and Nick wants a different life; she accepts a promotion to CFO and encourages Nick to pursue Abbey. Nick realizes his mistake and rushes to Abbey's home with a violinist and a 'grand gesture' of fake snow. He confesses that he cannot imagine Christmas without her, and they embrace as real snow finally begins to fall.
