    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The protagonist's brand is literally called 'Me First', which is the antithesis of a Hallmark movie theme.
    • The 'Candy Cane Relay' involves spinning around a giant candy cane like a dizzy-bat race.
    • The coincidence of the woman who saves the lead's life also being the long-lost mother of the lead's love interest.
    • A motivational speaker who uses an oxygen mask metaphor to justify being selfish.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Rachel Kennedy, a high-profile motivational author, returning to her hometown of Fall Oaks to promote her new book, 'Me First.' Rachel is portrayed as professional but emotionally distant, focused entirely on her brand and success under the guidance of her cynical manager, Stuart. While distracted by a phone call, Rachel nearly walks into traffic but is shoved to safety by a woman named Joy. When Rachel offers a reward, Joy simply asks her to 'help someone else who needs help.' This encounter haunts Rachel as she begins working with Jack, a talented local producer hired to manage her 'Inspiration Celebration' event. Jack, who left a high-powered career in Boston for a simpler life, immediately clashes with Rachel’s 'me first' message, suggesting the event should focus more on the spirit of Christmas and community. Rachel begins spending time at the local community center where Joy volunteers, discovering that the center is facing closure due to a lack of funding. As Rachel and Jack grow closer—bonding over a ridiculous candy cane relay race and decorating a 'misfit' Christmas tree—Jack reveals he was adopted and has always wondered about his biological parents. Meanwhile, Rachel attempts to mend fences with her brother David, who resents her for abandoning the family after their parents died. The conflict escalates when Stuart, fearing Joy is a bad influence on Rachel’s brand, investigates Joy’s past and discovers an old arrest record for theft. Joy confesses to Rachel that she stole money decades ago out of desperation to feed her infant son, whom she eventually gave up for adoption to ensure he had a better life. In a pivotal moment, Rachel discovers an old photograph in a book Joy gave her; it is the exact same photo Jack possesses of himself as a baby. Rachel realizes Joy is Jack’s biological mother. After a tense revelation, Jack is initially overwhelmed but eventually reconciles with Joy, realizing her sacrifice was an act of love. On the night of the big event, Rachel discovers Stuart has been exploiting her recent charitable acts as a marketing ploy. She fires Stuart on the spot and takes the stage to deliver a completely different message. She rebrands the event 'The Christmas Inspiration Celebration,' tells the audience that putting others first is the true path to happiness, and announces that all proceeds will go to save the community center. The film concludes with Rachel reconciled with her brother, Jack and Joy united as mother and son, and Rachel and Jack sharing a romantic moment, having found the true meaning of the season.
