Olivia manages the Willowcroft B&B with her mother and carries nearly all the responsibility for Chestnut Grove’s Christmas market, which her late father Nathan founded. The market provides crucial seasonal income for local vendors, and Olivia views maintaining it as the best way to preserve her father’s legacy. She is also a gifted miniature artist who builds detailed replicas of the market, but she treats the craft as a hobby because she believes her duties must come before her own happiness. Her mother repeatedly urges her to take time for herself and pursue her creativity. Grayson works as an architect for his father Bill’s conservative development firm. Although he wants to design distinctive buildings that inspire communities, Bill insists on traditional, financially safe projects and assigns Grayson the purchase and development of what he believes is an empty lot. During a train delay, Grayson and Olivia meet by chance and bond while decorating a lonely Christmas tree at the station. They discuss their shared frustration with being creatively restricted, joke about Frosty the Snowman, and feel an immediate connection, but Olivia’s departing train and a lost contact card cause them to miss their chance to stay in touch. Olivia soon learns that the market’s owner, Archie Weaver, intends to sell the land to Grayson’s company. Olivia and Grayson begin working together on a plan to save the market without ruining the development deal. They propose converting donated shipping containers into a year-round market and co-working complex with workshops, businesses, a cafe, and community event space. The idea would give Archie dependable income and provide Bill’s company with a commercially viable development, but transportation costs and city delays threaten the plan. Bill rejects the unconventional approach, and Grayson struggles between loyalty to his father and his growing belief that creative spaces can also be profitable. As they work late on architectural drawings and Olivia’s miniature model, the pair finally acknowledge that their train-station meeting mattered to both of them. At the market ball, the community gives Olivia donations to help with the shipping containers, but Bill arrives and pressures Archie to close the original deal. Olivia feels that Grayson has abandoned her when Bill dismisses the proposal before she can present it. Olivia’s mother reminds her that Nathan himself once took a risky idea and transformed the Willowcroft property into a place where people could gather. Grayson provides a solution for the transportation problem, then resigns from his father’s company rather than continue suppressing his own ideas. He deliberately leaves Olivia to make the final presentation herself, believing she needs to claim her own talent and vision. On Christmas Eve, Olivia presents a plan for a co-working office development with the shipping-container market incorporated into the site. She explains that the project qualifies for a state tax subsidy, creates year-round community value, and honors both Nathan’s and Archie’s original vision. Bill is persuaded by the commercial potential and agrees to the deal, while Archie requires that Olivia receive permanent space to sell her miniatures and expand her workshops. Olivia’s mother and the merchants promise to help manage the B&B and market so she can pursue her art. Olivia then reunites with Grayson after he leaves the company, and they agree that he may become the architect for the new project. Their shared Christmas-tree moment becomes the beginning of both a professional partnership and a hopeful romance.
