    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The 'napkin caddy' gift that looks like a birdhouse or a piece of recycling.
    • A wedding featuring a Michael Bublé impersonator as the officiant.
    • Laura's oddly specific French phrase 'I would not like a table by the window' which she practices repeatedly.

    Full story (spoilers)
The film opens with Laura Miller struggling to manage a chaotic household: her husband Michael is preoccupied with real estate deals, her son Brandon wants a tattoo, and her daughter Ella is obsessed with social media. Laura feels 'behind' in life, a sentiment echoed by the opening song. When her best friend Trish, a successful and globetrotting architect, visits for Mother's Day weekend, the contrast between their lives becomes stark. After Michael cancels their long-promised trip to Paris for work and the children treat her like a personal assistant, Laura snaps. She leaves a 'status update' for her family and departs for a girls' weekend at a luxury resort with Trish. At the resort, Trish facilitates a 'deprogramming' of Laura’s mom-habits, including a makeover and a spa day. Laura eventually lets loose, winning $20 at a casino and performing a karaoke rendition of 'Don't Stop.' Meanwhile, Michael is forced to become the 'bad cop' at home, realizing the immense labor Laura performs daily. He finds her old architectural drawings and realizes she sacrificed her career for the family. At the resort, Laura meets one of Trish's clients, Don, and provides insightful architectural critiques for a new restaurant project, proving her skills are still sharp. Trish, seeing Laura's family life from the outside and holding a stranger's baby, realizes she is tired of being a 'moving target' and wants to settle down with her boyfriend, Jason. Michael eventually drives to the resort to apologize, bringing flowers and acknowledging his neglect. Laura asserts her independence by staying an extra night to meet with a contractor. The film concludes with Laura returning to a clean house and a family that finally appreciates her. She accepts a part-time position at Trish's firm, Michael commits to taking the whole family to Paris, and Trish reconciles with Jason to build a 'real life' together.
