Bonnie Somerville plays Hillary, who is too embarrassed to tell her family she got dumped, so she hires an actor to pose as her fiance for a four-day Thanksgiving at her parents' house. Shelley Long plays the formidable mother, and you can already feel the lies piling up nicely. It is a familiar setup played for warmth and a few laughs, perfect if you want a Thanksgiving-flavored romance rather than another Christmas one. Comfortable, brisk, and easy to root for.
