    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • The heroines repeatedly crash elite Christmas parties under fake identities and invent increasingly elaborate cover stories, including being a doula, a race-car driver, a NASA worker, and an Olympic ski instructor.

    How it all plays out

    Full story (spoilers)
Antonia Andretti works at a print-and-invitations shop in Westport, Connecticut, while her father Lou still pushes her toward a law career she has not been able to finish because of a panic attack during the bar exam. She and her best friend Sabrina Cassidy are bored, restless, and craving a little glamour, so they begin using leftover invitations to slip into holiday parties under fake names. Their first crash is supposed to be harmless fun, but the attention, the energy, and the thrill of being someone else make them want more. At one of those parties, Toni meets Justin Harrison, a polished executive who is overseeing the acquisition of Skyline Motors. He is immediately drawn to the version of Toni he thinks he is meeting, and the two banter easily over holiday food, caviar, and the absurdities of the event scene. When Justin later invites Toni to a Vermont retreat tied to the deal, she goes along as a supposed legal consultant, while Sabrina comes too and continues the deception. The women keep inventing new identities and get more and more comfortable performing different versions of themselves. The retreat becomes the center of the romance. Toni and Justin bond over snow, hot chocolate, s'mores, themed dinners, and the general escape of the weekend, while Sabrina develops a separate spark with Vinny, who turns out to own the travel company behind the retreat logistics. Toni also uses her actual legal knowledge to improve Justin's deal work, especially after she starts to suspect Skyline Motors is hiding major seatbelt problems. Justin is charmed by her ideas and by how naturally she sees the world, but he is also blunt about hating liars, which raises the stakes for Toni's hidden identity. The pressure spikes when Sebastian, Justin's assistant, starts investigating Toni and uncovers enough inconsistencies to worry that she may be another woman from Justin's past who misled him. At the same time, Toni's father uncovers documentary proof that Skyline knew its seatbelts were defective and failed to recall them, which means Toni can genuinely help Justin and save the acquisition from becoming a disaster. After Toni confesses the truth, Justin feels betrayed and tells her to leave, even though she explains that the crash-party fantasy started as harmless distraction and became real for her when she fell for him. By the end, the legal truth and the emotional truth both come into focus. Toni helps her father and Justin connect the dots on Skyline's liability, saving the company from a bad deal and giving her a real path back into law. A year later, Toni is newly licensed and much more secure in who she is, and the holiday season brings Justin back into her life at a wedding. They apologize, start over, and choose a relationship built on honesty rather than disguises, ending the story with a warm Christmas reunion and a dance that confirms they are finally on the same page.
