    Wait, what?

The quirks and curveballs that make this one a little weirder than your average Hallmark. No spoilers, promise.

    • the Grand Fairbanks Hotel is treated like a living character in the story
    • the movie uses a dual-timeline structure with a 1969 flashback inside a modern romance
    • a Braxton royal-jewel exhibition and a memoir about a former butler-art dealer drive the plot
    • the Cordelia children's-book universe is woven into the hotel’s identity and the romance

    How it all plays out

    Full story (spoilers)
Sabrina arrives at the Grand Fairbanks Hotel in New York to spend the final stretch before Christmas ghostwriting the memoir of Grayson Westcott, a celebrated art dealer. The hotel is steeped in the legacy of Hazel Holley and her beloved Cordelia books, and Sabrina immediately feels the pressure of turning Grayson’s life into something meaningful and compelling. At the hotel bar, Sabrina meets Ian in a playful mix-up over a stolen sandwich, and their chemistry is immediate. They bond over books, the city, and the Read For the Stars literacy charity, while Sabrina also meets the hotel concierge Leo and gets pulled deeper into the festive social world around the Grand Fairbanks. Ian is thoughtful and funny, but he keeps parts of his life private, and Sabrina slowly realizes that he is connected to the Braxton family and their high-profile holiday plans. Grayson’s memoir provides a second romance thread through a 1969 flashback. As a teenage butler at the Grand Fairbanks, he serves Hazel Holley, who encourages him to imagine a life beyond service and eventually to become the author of his own story. He also falls for Charlotte Ash, a woman whose ambitions and future pull her toward London, and their romance becomes a painful lesson in timing, sacrifice, and regret. In the present, the Braxton jewel collection is brought to New York for a charity exhibition tied to Read For the Stars, and the hotel fills with glamour, gossip, and mistaken assumptions. Sabrina becomes increasingly convinced that Ian is hiding something fundamental about himself, especially after Tabitha and Spencer’s Braxton-related complications add to the confusion. Sabrina and Ian keep circling each other, but their connection is threatened by secrecy, career pressure, and the feeling that they come from different worlds. At the exhibition, the truth about the Braxton family and the charity finally comes into focus, and Sabrina and Ian face the cost of not speaking plainly sooner. Ian later returns after escorting the Braxtons to the airport and tells Sabrina that he has fallen for her, while the Braxtons agree to bring the charity chapter to New York on a lasting basis. The film closes with the idea that love, like a great story, only works when people are brave enough to seize it.
